About Me

Nata Malysheva, mosaic artist in Munich

My name is Nata Malysheva. I am a mosaic artist and the author of the Blaze Horse project. I live and work in Munich.

For me, mosaic is not only an artistic practice. It has been and remains, first and foremost, a way of gathering myself. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in psychology. As a researcher, I am especially interested in mosaic as an art-therapeutic medium.

I enjoy writing about mosaic: about the meanings embedded in mosaic images, and how those meanings are connected to an era, a worldview, and ideas of the body, power, the sacred, and the everyday. Another separate and important theme for me is the artists who create mosaic. Behind every work stands a person—their feelings, experiences, and way of thinking. These are two poles of one core interest of mine, from which the Blaze Horse Telegram channel grew.

There are not many strong, concise books on mosaic, so information often has to be gathered literally piece by piece—from books, catalogues, travel, conversations, observation, and personal experience. But this very process is what deeply fascinates me.

My goal is not to deliver a “correct” version, but to feel through and articulate what I see—through knowledge of symbolism, cultural context, and historical and semantic codes.

Everything I write is most often my personal interpretation, and I do not present it as ultimate truth. But it is important for me to show the course of my own thinking and involve the reader in this process—not so they necessarily agree with me, but so they pause, look more carefully, try to make sense of what they see, and perhaps even feel the urge to disagree or argue. What I do is a return to perception and reflection as a skill.

If my approach and what I write resonate with you, I am ready to do the same for your project. I do not simply write “texts about artworks”; I help reveal the inner logic of a piece and translate it into language that is clear to a viewer, curator, gallery, or reader. I can join at any stage and help structure what you want to say with precision, depth, and without loss of meaning.

I am also open to collaboration with projects and platforms connected to mosaic, art, and cultural initiatives where analytical, conceptual, or writing work is needed.

If you have something to say but have not yet found the words, write to me.
